We looked over the rail of the lanai and silently watched the ripples of clouds gathering in the morning sky.
Rain, on the last day of our trip to paradise.
He looked at me and smiled. Nothing was going to ruin this day.
We packed our lunches, towels and a change of clothes. He stuffed the bright orange parkas into the backpack.
As we stepped out of the tour bus and heard the crashing of the waves. We felt the first drops of rain pelting on the rustling palm leaves.
We grasped hands and ran, laughing, to the water’s edge. NOTHING was going to ruin this day.

Ah, the last day of being on vacation – we struggle to savor every last second. I think you post really captured that feeling. Glad to see those raindrops didn’t get in your way.

frank, you aren’t that old-and the people you write about, or collect photos, etc don’t even have to be “your” own! So many older folks are excited to tell their stories, let you photograph their memories-items.
I bet in Germany, there a so many stories to be told. If someone doesnt do it, they will be lost. Check around where senior citizens may be. Ask around and see if someone you knows might have an idea. My dad got a lot of his World war II stories like this. Hope all is well. beebee

What a liberating view. We in our culture are so apt to whine rather than see challenges as only minor obstacles to greater joy.
