“Alas! She laughed as he swooped into the parlor like some minor royalty. “He has surely forgotten his station!” She turned her silver Challis toward he lips and drank of the blood within., no one noticing as she licked a stray drop from her lip. “Soon, he would be reminded,” she smiled.

Everything Will be O.K.
She was so tired, her eyes closed as she folded the clothes. Her hair was limp, unwashed, uncombed…
As she finally rested her head on the soft pillow, it felt like Heaven.
“Mommy”, a little voice rang out, “I don’t feel good.”
For a tiny second, she hoped she hadn’t heard his call. “No, not now, I’m so tired.”, she thought.
Slowly, she pulled on her , slipped her feet in the still warm slippers and scuffed as she walked into his room.
“What’s the matter, baby?” she sighed.
“My throat hurts.” He looked up with reddened eyes and sniffled.
His nose was running,, he wasn’t kidding.
“She went to get the thermometer and baby meds as she shook off the tiredness-again.”
“It’s ok, baby, momma’s here.” she smiled.
He smiled too, through rheumy eyes. Mommy was here, everything would be okay.
Nightmares
She was running through the woods, the full moon gave every tree a haunting shadow.
“Where was he?” she wondered, as she tried to run on the path so the leaves crunching under her feet could not be heard.
He laughed as he watched her from the river bank. “How silly that she thought he didn’t know where she was.”
She stopped, panting and slid down to the edge of the river bank, cupping her hands in the water to find a little relief for her thirst.
He wasn’t 20 feet way, just behind a rock. A sudden shift in the stones below his feet echoed loudly in the shadows.
She sat up, with a start, in her own bed, in her own safe room. Her heart was thumping inside her. She noticed her hands were wet, and tried to remember the dream.
